Connect

More than anything we want you to find a place of connection.  Here are some ways you can do that.

SJCC Six Fold Ministry Management

Each ministry team meets at least once a month to plan, discuss, and promote a program of activities. Individual Ministry quarterly reports are given to the elders at their meetings as to the activities undertaken by each ministry team. Communication is key to operational efficiency. If you wish to see a program started or have an idea, you may contact the Ministry Team Leader. The elders will review all communications for final approval. If the concern has something to do with legal issues, the board of trustees will help with the decision-making.

If and when all SJCC members work to glorify the Lord and grow his body, participate as team members, there is no reason why we will not all grow individually and corporately. “From Him, the whole Body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each does its work.” (Ephesians 4:16). May the Lord use all of us we try to faithfully serve Him!

I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.”
John 15:1-2

Administration

In his letter to the followers of Jesus in Corinth, the apostle Paul calls upon the assembly of believers (the “church”) to conduct itself “in a fitting and orderly way” (1 Cor. 14:40), knowing that “God is not a God of disorder but of peace” (1 Cor. 14:33). Paul’s concerns are that the church be strengthened (1 Cor. 14:26), built up (1 Cor. 14:12), unified (1 Cor. 12:12) and active with Jesus, in the Spirit, in participating in the Father’s mission on earth. In that participation, the church is to utilize approaches and means that are biblically appropriate, including being responsive to the church’s cultural context (1 Cor. 9:19-23).

The gift of administration is the special ability that God gives to certain members of the body of Christ to understand clearly the immediate and long-range goals of a particular unit of the body of Christ, and to devise and execute effective plans for the accomplishment of those goals.

With this in mind, the Administration Ministry is primarily responsible for the day to day business, activities and services of the San Jose Church of Christ (SJCC).

Ministries include:

a. Pastoral Care and Service – involves counseling, mentoring, visiting the sick, doing home bible study, and conducting funeral services and wedding ceremonies.

b. Preaching and Teaching – responsible for Worship Celebration speakers and materials, adult bible study speakers and materials, conducting C.L.A.S.S. (Christian Life and Service Seminars) 101 to 401, conducting other training/workshop sessions for equipping members.

c. Office Administration and Organization – involves church record keeping, membership involvement, renewal and additions, church historian, etc.

Life Groups

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them everything I have commanded you.  And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

These were the words that Jesus spoke to His disciples before He ascended into heaven.  Likewise, this has been the inspiration of the Life Groups Ministry to spread the word and propagate the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ.

To strengthen the faith of the brethren and to reach out to unbelievers, Life Groups Ministry Planned/Organized the Following Programs/Activities:

1. Cell Groups-Currently we have four(4) cell groups discussing a common topic series scheduled every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday.  Bible Studies/ meetings are held at various places where brethren/visitors can easily come and have fellowship with one another.

After the completion of a particular topic series, all four (4) groups join together to have fellowship.  This is also a time for each group to share their insights and experiences with everyone.

2. Outdoor Picnic/Fellowship—once a year San Jose Church of Christ (SJCC) family together with friends and loved ones celebrate and go out for a Christian fellowship to build friendship, camaraderie with one another, inspiring messages, singing, games, and food fellowship are the usual highlights of this event.

3. National Day of Prayer—This is an annual day of observance held every first Thursday of May, where all members gather together to pray for the nation and its leaders.  This is a great opportunity to participate in the observance of the National Day of Prayer.

a. Distribution of Tracks and Biblical Materials—Every other month, the church distributes tracks and Biblical material to everyone to share and spread the Word.

b.Visitation—As mandated by God (Matthew 25:36b), the San Jose Church of Christ (SJCC) family is conducting visitation to believers/unbelievers and most especially to those who need encouragement, prayers, and spiritual guidance.

c. Summer Camp—Once every two (2) years, the SJCC family sets four (4) days and three (3) nights to be away from any distractions to concentrate and wonder about the beauty of God’s creation.  This is a great time to receive insights through workshops, messages, Bible studies, and devotions and to pray and praise God for who He is and for what He has done.

Missions

SJCC’s Mission Ministry Team’s main focus is extending missionary help through resources for SJCC’s outreach which includes evangelism, establishing congregation, and other means of Christian witness here in the USA and also around the world, particularly in the Philippines.

To be a witness and share the good news of salvation is the mantra of this ministry.  The empowerment and boldness to witness is given to every believer as taught in Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witness in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Youth

Justified By Faith (JBF) is the SJCC youth group which is comprised of young people from 13 to 21 years of age.  The main thrust and purpose of this youth group, as they work in conjunction with the ministry works of SJCC is to train, develop and equip the youth in their service of the Lord.  In addition, this ministry hopes and prays to improve the relationship of these youth with their Lord Jesus, and with their parents and further foster better relationships within others in God’s body, the church.

JBF activities include Sunday Bible Study in which the youth learn biblical wisdom and discussion of timely subjects and issues that today’s youth are facing.  They also have their Friday fellowship where they have fun, food, and friendly activities that draw them closer to one another.  JBF also leads SJCC’s Sunday celebration every 4th Sunday.  This allows them to develop their musical talents and at the same time enjoy God’s presence through singing and playing worship songs.  This youth group also participates in and joins other Christian youth groups’ activities which help them to meet new friends and young brethren. All their activities are geared toward a fun, relevant, and engaging environment that encourages every young person to pursue their own relationship with God.  JBF invites and welcomes all young people to share their lives with them!

Children

Our Children’s Sunday School is a part of the San Jose Church of Christ’s Children Ministry program.  Our method includes Bible-based teaching, singing familiar contemporary songs, and many more.  Presently, we have three Sunday School classes namely:  Nursery (ages 0-4 years old), Beginners (ages 4 ½ – 8 ½ years old), and Middlers (ages 9 – 12 years old).  We have an average of fifteen regular students coming every Sunday.  We have twelve volunteer teachers who are dedicated in teaching and molding these children to grow in the presence of the Lord.

It is indeed very rewarding and self-fulfilling to be a part of SJCC’s Children Ministry and to have the privilege to see our young ones grow to become the person God wants them to be. We will continue to serve God through the gift of teaching,  for it is written in 2 Timothy 3:16-17, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

SJCC Praise Team/Band aka “Mt. Zion” is a group of dedicated, gifted Christian men and women who love to exalt God’s name through singing and playing praise and worship. This group is sold out that worship in SJCC is the heart and soul of service to God and their way of expressing love, adoration, and gratefulness to GOD, the only ONE worthy of all praises.  It is our goal and aspiration to see all God’s children in SJCC personally experience and understand the deepest and truest meaning of worshiping God.  That worship never ceases because God never changes and HE alone is the heart of all our worship.

Mt. Zion rehearses every Friday and loves to sing various praise songs from traditional, contemporary, and modern types of music.  They desire to worship at SJCC not to be a “spectator sport” but to incorporate a great deal of congregational involvement to uplift one’s spirit and more importantly, to give the highest praise to our only God.
